The Adamawa State government has confirmed an outbreak of a suspected disease in the state, with several victims currently receiving treatment at Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital in Yola. Dr. Felix Tangwami, the state Commissioner for Health, said the government is taking proactive measures to contain the situation and prevent further spread. Samples have been collected from the affected individuals and sent to the National Reference Laboratory for testing to determine the cause of the outbreak.
Health officials have placed the community under close monitoring, and emergency response teams have been deployed to the area. Awareness campaigns are underway, and medical supplies are being provided to the affected community. The state government is collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization (WHO), and other partners to manage the outbreak.
Dr. Tangwami assured that the medical team is working around the clock to stabilize the condition of the victims. He appealed to residents to remain calm, maintain good hygiene practices, and report any suspicious cases to health facilities. He also advised against seeking traditional remedies, which could worsen infections.
The swift response—deployment of emergency teams, provision of medical supplies, and collaboration with international health organizations such as the WHO—aims to mitigate the impact of the outbreak and prevent a larger public health crisis. The government will continue to monitor the affected community, provide updates, and take proactive steps to protect the health and well‑being of Adamawa State residents.
