INEC Approves New ADC Leadership Amid Party Crisis

I'm ready to step aside for new leader - Kebbi ADC chairperson welcomes coalition

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has received official recognition from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its new leadership. INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, has been commended by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, for supporting the cause of multi-party democracy.

According to INEC’s official website, the approved executives include David Mark as National Chairman, Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary, Ibrahim Ahmad as National Treasurer, and Akibu Dalhatu as National Financial Secretary. Oserheimen Aigberaodion Osunbor has also been approved as the party’s new National Legal Adviser.

The new leadership took over the party after it was adopted by an opposition coalition a few months ago. However, a faction of the party had resisted the move, claiming to be the original owners. The recognition by INEC brings an end to the leadership dispute, with Abdullahi praising the electoral body for standing on the right side of history.

INEC’s acknowledgement of the new leadership is seen as a significant step in reinforcing the country’s multi-party democracy. The ADC is one of the major opposition parties in Nigeria, and its new leadership is expected to play a crucial role in the country’s political landscape.

The development has been welcomed by ADC members and supporters of democracy in Nigeria. Abdullahi expressed his appreciation for INEC’s decision, stating that it is a victory for democracy and the people of Nigeria. With the leadership dispute now resolved, the party can focus on its political activities and preparations for future elections.

The recognition of the new leadership by INEC is a significant milestone for the ADC, and it is expected to have a positive impact on the party’s operations and activities. As the party moves forward, it is likely to continue playing an important role in Nigeria’s political scene, promoting democracy and good governance in the country.
