A fire accident that occurred on Wednesday in Kurni Market, Kano, has resulted in the destruction of a total of 80 shops. The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a statement. He reported that the service received an emergency call at approximately 5:23 AM from a man named Aliyu Alkasim, who alerted them to the outbreak of the fire.
In response to the report, the fire service mobilized personnel from various fire stations within the metropolitan area. They arrived at the scene of the incident at around 5:27 AM, where they found that the area affected by the fire measured approximately 160 by 100 feet. Thanks to the efforts of the firefighters, several shops within the market were saved, and fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported.
Abdullahi stated that the cause of the fire is still under investigation. He urged the general public to take precautions by switching off all electrical appliances and disconnecting them from their power sources when not in use. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of avoiding the careless use of naked flames throughout the market premises.
