Dele Momodu Pleads with Kachikwu to Save ADC

2027: Don’t kill ADC - Dele Momodu tells Kachikwu

Dele Momodu, a member of the African Democratic Congress, has urged Dumebi Kachikwu, the party’s former presidential candidate, to refrain from actions that could harm the party. Momodu made this appeal during an interview on Channels Television’s program, The Morning Brief. He stated that he had reached out to Kachikwu to understand his grievances and encouraged him to consider the well-being of the party.

Momodu emphasized that being a former presidential candidate does not grant an individual ownership of a party. He drew parallels with his own experience as a presidential candidate in 2011 for the National Conscience Party, which was co-founded by Gani Fawehinmi. Additionally, he cited examples of prominent politicians, such as Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and Atiku Abubakar, who do not claim ownership of their respective parties.

Momodu expressed concern that some Nigerian politicians have developed a sense of entitlement, claiming to be the founders or owners of parties. He noted that the People’s Democratic Party, for instance, was founded by a group of individuals, but they have since lost control of the party. Momodu advised Kachikwu not to allow himself to be used to create divisions within the African Democratic Congress, emphasizing that the party is still in its early stages and deserves to be nurtured.

The African Democratic Congress is a relatively new political party in Nigeria, and Momodu’s appeal to Kachikwu highlights the importance of unity and cooperation within the party. As Nigeria’s political landscape continues to evolve, the actions of key players like Kachikwu and Momodu will be closely watched. The outcome of this situation will likely have significant implications for the future of the African Democratic Congress and its role in Nigerian politics.
