Ekiti APC leaders, stakeholders reaffirm support for Tinubu, Oyebanji’s second term

Ekiti State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term in office. The decision was made during a meeting of party leaders and stakeholders at the country home of the late General Adeyinka Adebayo in Iyin-Ekiti.

In attendance were notable figures, including former governors Chief Niyi Adebayo and Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Governor Oyebanji, his deputy Monisade Afuye, Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, and Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Adeoye Aribasoye. The meeting aimed to solidify the party’s strength in the state and ensure a collective commitment to its success in future elections.

The motion to reaffirm President Tinubu’s candidacy was moved by Senator Bamidele and seconded by Representative Olusola Fatoba, while the motion to endorse Governor Oyebanji was moved by Speaker Aribasoye and seconded by Representative Bose Olowookere. Both motions were ratified through a unanimous voice vote.

Former Governors Adebayo and Fayemi emphasized the need for party members to work together to ensure victory in the upcoming elections. Dr. Fayemi commended the party members for their support and urged them to mobilize grassroots support for Governor Oyebanji’s re-election. He expressed optimism that the governor would break the jinx of one-term governors in the state.

Governor Oyebanji reiterated his commitment to inclusivity and cohesion among party stakeholders, noting that the primary election would be the foundation for the 2026 governorship and 2027 presidential elections. He urged party members to consider themselves one big family and work together towards victory in the general election.

The meeting also reviewed the party’s activities and strengthened its unity ahead of future elections. The Chairman of the APC in Ekiti State, Olusola Elesin, disclosed that the party’s secretariat project had received support from Governor Oyebanji and other caucus leaders, which would boost the party’s performance in the governorship election.

The endorsement of President Tinubu and Governor Oyebanji is a significant development in Ekiti State’s political landscape, as the party seeks to maintain its stronghold in the region. With the primary election approaching, the APC is poised to strengthen its unity and work towards a decisive victory in the general election.
