Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has launched the distribution of 408,137 teaching and learning materials to public schools across the state, aiming to support education and promote development. The ceremony took place at the Teacher Training and Development Centre in Gusau, where the governor stressed that investing in education is essential for restoring Zamfara.
According to the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, the distribution is a key step toward recovery, renewal, and progress. The state government procured the materials directly, with additional support from the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and UNICEF. UBEC contributed 77,609 teaching and learning items, while UNICEF provided 5,000 Climate Change and Education Early Warning Handbooks.
Governor Lawal said the investment reflects the state’s commitment to developing its people’s minds and highlighted the importance of partnerships with UBEC and UNICEF, noting that development is best achieved when governments and organizations work together for the common good. He also commended teachers for their dedication and sacrifices, emphasizing that the materials will be effective only if used by passionate educators.
