Rep. Dasuki offers immediate support to victims in Sokoto — Daily Nigerian

A recent surge in bandit attacks has affected several districts in Sokoto State, Nigeria, prompting a visit from Abdussamad Dasuki, the House of Representatives member for the Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency. Represented by his Senior Legislative Aide, Attahiru Danmadi, Dasuki met with victims at Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps in the Kuchi and Jabo districts.

During the visit, the lawmaker distributed immediate relief materials—bags of maize, millet, groundnut cake, food items and other essentials—to those displaced by the attacks. He assured the victims that necessary actions are being taken to ensure their safety and to bring the perpetrators to justice, and he pledged to use legislative means to address the ongoing security challenges in the area.

The affected villages in Kuchi district include Fakku, Sha’alwashi, Tulluwa, Bashi Bakin Dutse, and Rafin‑Gora, while those in Jabo district comprise Gesolodi, Hilya, Guraye, Guma, Chakai, Modo, Badariya, Tafki, Balera, Gudumawa, and Rafin Shinkafa. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is collaborating with Dasuki to provide additional support to the victims.

Dasuki praised the response of security agencies to the crisis but urged them to intensify efforts to apprehend the criminals. He also expressed sympathy for families who lost loved ones in the attacks. The displacement of many residents has forced them to seek shelter at the IDP camps, making Dasuki’s visit a crucial step in addressing their humanitarian needs. Continued collaboration with NEMA is expected to bring further assistance to the communities, while security challenges in Sokoto State remain a pressing concern.
