Following his victory, Lyles expressed his satisfaction, stating that he had achieved his goal of defending his title.

In another notable performance, Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo finished fourth in the men’s 200m event. Despite not medaling, Tebogo expressed pride in his achievement, particularly given the challenges he faced during the season. “To end like this, after everything, I’m proud,” he said.

The men’s triple jump event saw reigning World Champion Hugues Fabrice Zango of Burkina Faso conclude his athletics career with a jump of 16.92m, placing seventh. Algeria’s Yasser Triki narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth with a mark of 17.25m.

Meanwhile, Kenya continues to assert its dominance in middle-distance events. In the women’s 800m, three Kenyan athletes – Mary Moraa, Lilian Odira, and Sarah Moraa – have secured spots in the final. Moroccan athlete Assia Raziki, although failing to qualify, achieved a new personal best and celebrated this milestone.

These developments signify a compelling continuation of the athletics competitions, with various countries and athletes vying for top positions. As the events unfold, athletes will be looking to build on their performances and strive for excellence in their respective disciplines. The upcoming finals are anticipated to be fiercely competitive, with medals and recognition hanging in the balance.
