Morocco eases entry with Africa Cup travel authorisation

Morocco introduces simplified e-authorisation for CAN 2025 supporters from certain African countries

Morocco Introduces Electronic Travel Authorization for African Nations Ahead of Africa Cup of Nations

In preparation for the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco is implementing a streamlined electronic travel authorization, known as Autorisation Électronique de Voyage au Maroc (AEVM), for citizens of select African countries. The new policy aims to facilitate entry for fans traveling to support their teams during the tournament, scheduled to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

The AEVM will be available to nationals from Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gabon, Niger, Senegal, Togo, and Tunisia, all of which are currently visa-exempt for Morocco. Eligible travelers can apply online through the YALLA app starting September 25, 2025. The service will also provide related fan services, including the issuance of FanID, a required document for accessing stadiums and fan zones.

However, for individuals from these countries visiting Morocco for non-Africa Cup of Nations purposes, such as tourism, business, or family visits, a different process applies. They will need to submit their AEVM request at least 96 hours before departure through the official portal Access-Maroc.ma, rather than the YALLA app.

Certain groups are exempt from the AEVM requirement, including holders of diplomatic, service, special, or official passports, legal residents in Morocco with valid residency permits, travelers in transit who do not leave international airport zones, citizens from the eight countries married to Moroccans (with proof), and individuals over 55 years old.

The AEVM via YALLA is a temporary measure, effective from September 25, 2025, to January 25, 2026. After the tournament concludes, entry rules are expected to revert to normal procedures. This initiative demonstrates Morocco’s efforts to enhance the travel experience for African citizens and facilitate the movement of fans during the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

The introduction of the AEVM is a significant development in Morocco’s travel policy, highlighting the country’s commitment to simplifying entry procedures for African nationals. As the continent prepares for the 35th Africa Cup of Nations, this move is expected to contribute to a successful and enjoyable tournament for fans from participating countries. With the AEVM in place, Morocco is poised to welcome thousands of visitors from across Africa, promoting regional unity and cooperation through sports.
