I'm losing my mind again - Omah Lay

Nigerian singer Stanley Omah Didia, known professionally as Omah Lay, has sparked concern among fans after disclosing that he is experiencing depression again. In a series of Snapchat posts, the artist expressed frustration with his recording contract and the music industry, hinting that these factors have contributed to his current mental‑health struggles. He specifically mentioned his dissatisfaction with his contracts, record labels, and the music business as a whole, and he voiced regret over decisions made by his younger self while also criticizing his former manager.

The outburst comes shortly after Omah Lay parted ways with his manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, with whom he reportedly had a tumultuous relationship. Awoniyi described their separation as amicable on social media, but another artist associated with Omah Lay’s label, Kaestyle, claimed that Awoniyi was fired.

This is not the first time Omah Lay has spoken publicly about his struggles with depression. In 2022, he discussed his mental‑health challenges in the context of his debut album, *Boy Alone*, released on July 15 of that year. At the time, he also shared on social media that his depression had worsened following a personal crisis involving a sexual affair with his therapist.

Omah Lay’s recent statements have raised concerns among his fans and highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by artists in the music industry, including the pressures of contractual obligations and their impact on mental health. As the industry continues to evolve, instances like Omah Lay’s serve as a reminder of the importance of supporting artists’ well‑being and fostering transparent, equitable business practices. His openness may help reduce stigma around mental‑health discussions and encourage others to seek help when needed.
