Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership to successfully conduct the party’s governorship primaries, paving the way for victory in the 2026 election. The governor, who is seeking the party’s ticket, made this statement after appearing before the APC Screening Committee in Abuja.
The screening process, led by Tunji Olawuyi, is part of the party’s procedures for the forthcoming primary election. Governor Oyebanji, who was the first to undergo screening, commended the party leadership for putting the necessary structures in place. He described the process as fair and transparent, stating that it would yield a credible result.
The governor urged the APC national leadership to provide a level playing field for all aspirants who have passed the screening process. This, he believes, will enable them to showcase their manifestos to party members. Oyebanji also expressed confidence in the committee that will conduct the Ekiti APC Governorship Primary election on October 27, saying they will do an excellent job in line with party guidelines.
The screening committee has two days to evaluate the four aspirants vying for the party’s ticket. Governor Oyebanji emphasized the importance of a fair and transparent process, noting that it is crucial for the party’s success in the election. He stated, “I must commend the APC for putting this structure in place. It will save the party from a lot of problems. I have absolute confidence that the party will get it right.”
The governor’s appearance before the screening committee marked the beginning of the party’s internal process to select its candidate for the 2026 election. With the primary election scheduled for October 27, the party is taking steps to ensure a smooth and credible process. The outcome of the screening and subsequent elections will be crucial in determining the party’s chances of success in the 2026 election.
