Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has voiced confidence that the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership will successfully conduct the party’s governorship primaries, setting the stage for a victory in the 2026 election. Speaking after appearing before the APC Screening Committee in Abuja, the governor—who is seeking the party’s ticket—praised the party’s structures and described the screening process, led by Tunji Olawuyi, as fair, transparent, and capable of delivering a credible result.
Oyebanji, the first candidate to undergo screening, urged the APC national leadership to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants who have passed the process, allowing them to present their manifestos to party members. He also expressed confidence in the committee that will oversee the Ekiti APC governorship primary on October 27, saying they will perform an excellent job in line with party guidelines.
The screening committee has two days to evaluate the four aspirants vying for the party’s ticket. Emphasizing the importance of a fair and transparent process, Oyebanji noted that such integrity is crucial for the party’s success in the upcoming election. “I must commend the APC for putting this structure in place. It will save the party from a lot of problems. I have absolute confidence that the party will get it right,” he said.
The governor’s appearance before the screening committee marks the beginning of the APC’s internal selection process for its 2026 candidate. With the primary election scheduled for October 27, the party is taking steps to ensure a smooth and credible process, recognizing that the outcomes of the screening and subsequent elections will be pivotal to its chances in the 2026 contest.
