Police authorities hold Guard of Honour for late IGG Arase — Daily Nigerian

The Nigerian Police Force paid tribute to its former Inspector‑General, Solomon Arase, who recently passed away. The tribute was led by the current Inspector‑General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, during a Guard of Honour Parade at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Arase, the 18th Indigenous Inspector‑General, was appointed to the position in April 2015.

Egbetokun said the late police chief will be remembered for his distinguished service to the Nigeria Police Force and the nation. He described Arase as one of the finest officers to have served in the force, leaving a legacy of professionalism, discipline, and respect for the rule of law. The Guard of Honour Parade was a solemn duty carried out with deep respect, marking the final farewell to the former police chief.

Arase’s tenure was marked by significant policy and national reforms that emphasized not only strength of arms but also strength of character and compassion. After retiring from the police, he continued to serve the nation as Chairman of the Police Service Commission, approaching his oversight duties with the same candor and vision that defined his policing career.

The Nigeria Police Force extended profound condolences to Arase’s family, the Police Service Commission, the government, and the people of Nigeria. The tribute serves as a reminder of his significant contributions to law enforcement and his enduring legacy, which will continue to influence the force through the lessons and reforms he implemented.
