Nigeria’s Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has emphasized that the country’s challenges are not unique to the current administration, and that President Bola Tinubu is implementing significant reforms to address some of these issues. Akume made this statement during a special service held at the National Ecumenical Centre in Abuja to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day Celebration.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation highlighted the importance of collective responsibility in nation-building, stating that every Nigerian has a role to play in creating a desirable nation. He reiterated President Tinubu’s commitment to transforming the country, citing reforms such as the removal of subsidies as examples of the administration’s efforts.
Akume stressed that the President requires the support of all Nigerians to succeed, noting that some of the reforms being implemented could have been introduced earlier. He expressed optimism about the future, stating that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation also emphasized the need for cooperation among the three arms of government, comprising the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary. He pointed out that the Independence Day celebration is not only a commemoration of Nigeria’s freedom from colonial rule but also an opportunity to honor the country’s founding fathers who fought for independence.
As Nigeria marks its 65th anniversary of independence, the government is seeking to address the country’s longstanding challenges, including economic and social issues. The administration’s reforms aim to stimulate economic growth, improve living standards, and enhance the overall well-being of Nigerians. With the support of citizens and cooperation among government institutions, the country can work towards a more prosperous and stable future.
