IPAC Urges Free Election in Anambra State

Nigeria at 65: Anambra election must be fair, credible - IPAC charges INEC, politicians

The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has urged for a free, fair, credible, and inclusive governorship election in Anambra State, scheduled for November 8, 2025. In a statement commemorating Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, IPAC called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a level playing field for all participating political parties and candidates.

As the umbrella body of all registered political parties in Nigeria, IPAC emphasized the importance of issue-based campaigns, urging politicians to eschew bitter politics that hinder the electoral process. The council stressed the need to respect the sanctity of the ballot box, ensuring every vote counts in the overall result.

IPAC’s national chairman, Dr. Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, signed the statement, which hailed Nigerians for their milestone in democratic governance. The council saluted the courage and patriotism of the nation’s founding fathers and compatriots who fought for independence from British colonial rule.

The statement also encouraged citizens to use the 65th Independence anniversary as an opportunity for reflection and rededication to the service of the nation. IPAC emphasized the need for action, patriotism, and a commitment to deepening the nation’s democracy. The council looks forward to the future with renewed confidence and faith, aiming to build a peaceful, stable, just, and prosperous society for future generations.

As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general election, IPAC reiterated the importance of rebuilding trust in the democratic system. The council remains committed to sustainable democracy and development in the country, emphasizing that collective efforts are necessary to build an enduring democracy.

In the context of Nigeria’s electoral landscape, IPAC’s call for a free and fair election in Anambra State is significant. The council’s emphasis on issue-based campaigns and respect for the ballot box underscores the need for a credible electoral process. As the country moves forward, IPAC’s commitment to democracy and development is likely to play a crucial role in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape.
