According to the police public‑relations officer in the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, the journalist was killed during an armed‑robbery incident at her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja on Monday.

The Commissioner of Police for the FCT, Ajao Adewale, condemned the killing as a cruel and senseless act. He ordered a discreet, thorough inquiry into the circumstances, directing the deployment of intelligence and operational assets to identify, track and apprehend those responsible. The police command pledged to ensure justice is served and reaffirmed its commitment to public safety and the prevention of similar occurrences.

The command is urging the public to support the investigation by providing timely, useful information and to raise prompt alarms in suspicious situations to thwart criminal plans. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and the commissioner extended his condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the late journalist.

The police’s swift response underscores its dedication to tackling crime and safeguarding residents of the Federal Capital Territory. As the investigation unfolds, the command’s efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice will be closely watched. The case serves as a reminder of the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between law‑enforcement agencies and the public in preventing and addressing crime, offering the community some comfort that justice will be pursued.
