A 31-year-old man from Toronto, Daniel Langdon, is facing 96 charges related to the sexual assault and abuse of minors, which he allegedly targeted through social media platforms. Canadian police announced on Wednesday that they believe there may be additional victims. Langdon has been charged with 39 counts of sexual assault and is also suspected of making and possessing child pornography, according to a press conference held by Toronto police.
Detective Vijay Shetty reported that there are multiple victims, aged between seven and 17, and that the alleged crimes occurred between April 2021 and February of this year. The victims, who reside in various parts of Ontario, Canada’s most populous province, were believed to have been targeted through internet applications such as Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. Shetty noted that Langdon was very active on social media, utilizing several usernames and email addresses across different platforms. In some instances, he even altered his appearance to seem younger.
During a search of Langdon’s home, police discovered child pornography and evidence suggesting that he had sexually assaulted a seven-year-old child in a Toronto park. Notably, Langdon had previously been charged with possessing child pornography in 2016 and was prohibited from visiting public parks or having contact with anyone under the age of 16. He was arrested on February 7 and has been detained since then.
