Kwara State Governor Vows To Protect Lives And Property

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state. According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor made this declaration following a security council meeting held on Tuesday night. The meeting aimed to integrate state and federal assets into a unified strategy to combat crime, particularly in Kwara North and South.

The governor’s statement comes on the heels of a recent attack in Oke Ode, which prompted him to brief President Bola Tinubu and reiterate his request for additional federal deployment to raid bandits’ hideouts. In response to the growing security concerns, the Army Headquarters has relocated the General Officer Commanding of the 2nd Division to Ilorin, marking a significant step towards bolstering security operations in the state.

As part of the renewed efforts to strengthen security, a combined force of the Army, DSS, and Police launched an offensive operation around Baba Sango, along the Kwara-Kogi border, on Monday night. The operation resulted in the neutralization of approximately 15 armed bandits. The same operation continued on Tuesday, demonstrating the government’s resolve to protect its citizens.

Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized that his administration is determined to make Kwara State an unsafe haven for criminal elements, including kidnappers. The relocation of the General Officer Commanding to Ilorin and the integration of state and federal assets are testaments to the government’s commitment to addressing the security challenges facing the state.

The recent attack in Oke Ode and the subsequent response from the government highlight the need for sustained efforts to combat crime and protect lives and property in Kwara State. As the state continues to grapple with security concerns, the government’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens remains a top priority. The ongoing security operations and the collaboration between state and federal agencies are crucial steps towards restoring peace and stability in the region.
