PDP Loses Top Member as Alhaji Ibrahim Manzo Resigns

Kebbi: Ex-PDP North West chairman, Ibrahim Manzo resigns from party

A former high-ranking official of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria, Alhaji Ibrahim Manzo, has formally resigned from the party. Manzo, who previously served as the North West Chairman of the PDP and held various commissioner positions in Kebbi State, including Commissioner for Health and Commissioner for Agriculture, submitted his resignation letter on September 16, 2025.

The resignation letter, addressed to the PDP ward chairman in Dikko Ward, Argungu Local Government Area, and copied to the local government and state chairmen, cited personal reasons for his decision to leave the party. Manzo stated that his choice to resign was based on careful consideration, emphasizing that he appreciated the support and cooperation he received from the party and its members during his tenure.

Manzo’s political career spans several roles, including serving as the Amirul Hajj of Kebbi State and as a deputy governorship candidate under the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP). His resignation from the PDP may be seen as a significant development in the Nigerian political landscape, particularly in the North West region where he held considerable influence.

The PDP, one of Nigeria’s major political parties, has experienced various shifts in membership and leadership in recent years. Manzo’s resignation may reflect the ongoing evolution of the party’s structure and dynamics. As a former key figure in the PDP, his decision to leave could potentially impact the party’s strategies and alliances in the region.

Manzo’s resignation takes effect immediately, according to his letter. While the full implications of his decision are yet to be seen, it underscores the fluid nature of political affiliations in Nigeria. The development may also prompt speculation about Manzo’s future political endeavors, although his current plans remain unclear. For now, the focus is on the formalization of his exit from the PDP, marking the end of a significant chapter in his political career.
