The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has criticized former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi. Akume made the comments while addressing journalists in Abuja on Friday. He questioned Obi’s ability to rescue Nigeria, citing his past performance as governor of Anambra state.
According to Akume, Obi’s inability to effectively manage Anambra state raises doubts about his capacity to lead the entire country. “If Peter Obi could not rescue Anambra, he’s talking of rescuing the 36 states and Abuja,” Akume said. He also referred to other unnamed individuals who failed to deliver in their respective states.
Akume expressed support for President Bola Tinubu, highlighting his ability to maintain peace and unity among different religious groups in the country. He noted that Tinubu, a Muslim, has been able to foster a sense of harmony among Christians, Muslims, and traditionalists.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation also touched on the country’s economic progress, stating that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown by 4.4%. This improvement, he suggested, is a testament to the current administration’s efforts to revitalize the economy, which had been struggling prior to President Tinubu’s inception.
Akume’s comments come as Nigeria continues to navigate its economic and political landscape. The country has been working to overcome various challenges, including economic stagnation and social unrest. As the government moves forward, it remains to be seen how President Tinubu’s administration will address these issues and work towards a more stable and prosperous future for Nigeria.
