Peter Obi's influence made PDP lose 2023 Lagos governorship election - Jandor

The Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Abdul‑Azeez Adediran, has warned former President Goodluck Jonathan against contesting the 2027 presidential election. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Adediran—also known as Jandor—said that running against President Bola Tinubu would be a significant political risk for Jonathan. He argued that those urging Jonathan to run are misleading him, noting Tinubu’s political expertise and experience make him a formidable opponent.

Adediran reminded listeners that Tinubu defeated Jonathan in the 2015 presidential election and suggested a similar outcome is likely in 2027. He emphasized that Tinubu’s rise to the presidency resulted from dedication and perseverance, whereas Jonathan’s path to the office was different. According to Adediran, Jonathan’s experience and popularity alone are insufficient to guarantee a win against Tinubu’s strong political track record.

The Lagos4Lagos Movement leader urged Jonathan to remain in retirement, citing the potential risks and challenges of re‑entering politics. Adediran’s remarks come amid speculation about Jonathan’s possible candidacy in the 2027 race. As the political landscape evolves, it remains to be seen whether Jonathan will heed this advice or consider a return to the political arena. The upcoming election is expected to be highly contested, with numerous candidates and parties likely to participate, and Adediran’s comments add another dimension to the ongoing discussion about potential contenders.
