The Kano State Executive Council has approved a significant allocation of N5.397 billion for the comprehensive renovation of various schools in the state, including the Government Day Science College. This development follows a viral social media post by influencer Bello Habib Galadanci, also known as Dan Bello, which highlighted the deplorable condition of the science and technology-based public school.
In response to the video, Governor Abba Yusuf conducted an inspection visit to the school and the Government Technical College, ordering their immediate renovation. Subsequently, the state’s executive council held its 32nd meeting on October 4, during which it approved N905 million for the general rehabilitation of the Government Day Science College, established in 1993.
Additional approvals included N397 million for the rehabilitation of physical structures at Government Secondary School Rimi, Sumaila Local Government Area, and N1.4 billion for the renovation of the Government Technical College Kofar Nassarawa. The council also allocated N546 million for the renovation of Audu Bako College of Agriculture in Dambatta Local Government Area.

An additional N349 million was approved for the rehabilitation of physical structures at the School for Arabic Studies in Municipal Local Government, Kano.
These allocations demonstrate the state government’s commitment to improving the educational infrastructure in Kano. The renovation projects aim to provide a conducive learning environment for students, addressing the long-standing issues of dilapidated buildings and inadequate facilities. With the approved funds, the state expects to make significant progress in enhancing the quality of education in its public schools. The implementation of these projects is anticipated to have a positive impact on the education sector in Kano, benefiting students and the community at large.
