Kogi Governor Vows To Defeat Criminals

Gov. Ododo vows to defeat criminality in Kogi — Daily Nigerian

Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo has reaffirmed his commitment to combating criminality and ensuring peace in the state. During a visit to Isanlu-Esa in Yagba West Local Government Area, Governor Ododo vowed to defeat criminals and activities hindering development in the region. The visit was prompted by recent incidents of kidnapping and killings in Okunran, Okoloke, and Isanlu-Esa communities, which have heightened tension in the area.

Governor Ododo was received by Brigadier-General K. U. Sidi, Commander of the Nigerian Army in charge of the operation. The governor commended the combined efforts of security agencies, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Department of State Services, and special forces, in addressing criminality in the area. He expressed his appreciation for their synergy, which has facilitated their assignment, and assured them of his administration’s support to triumph over criminality.

The governor also paid tribute to the officers who lost their lives in the line of duty, assuring their families that their sacrifices would not be in vain. He cautioned traditional rulers against indiscriminate allocation of land to unknown individuals, emphasizing the need for proper profiling of individuals with mining licenses to prevent security breaches. Governor Ododo reaffirmed the support of President Bola Tinubu in ensuring peace and security across Kogi and Nigeria, commending the National Security Adviser and Security Chiefs for effectively implementing the President’s policies.

Brigadier-General Sidi commended the governor for his sustained support to the security agencies, which has strengthened their capacity to secure the area. The traditional ruler of Isanlu-Esa, Oba Olufemi Theophilus, thanked the governor for his visit, describing it as a demonstration of responsive and responsible leadership. He appealed to the security agencies to maintain their presence in the area until criminal activities are completely eradicated and urged the Federal Government to fix the road leading to the community to facilitate free movement and enhance security operations.

The governor’s visit and commitment to combating criminality underscore the significance of collaborative efforts between government agencies and local communities in addressing security challenges. As the state continues to grapple with incidents of kidnapping and killings, the governor’s reassurance of his administration’s support to security agencies is crucial in restoring peace and stability in the region. The successful implementation of security measures will be instrumental in ensuring the safety of lives and property, ultimately contributing to the development of Kogi State.
