Ogun’s Ibeman emerges Chairman, Forum of Majority Leaders in South-West

The Ogun State House of Assembly’s Majority Leader, Sherif Yusuf—also known as Ibeman—has been elected Chairman of the Forum of Majority Leaders in the South‑West region. The announcement was made at the 3rd Quarterly Meeting of the South‑West Legislative Reform Implementation Committee (SLRIC) in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The meeting was opened by the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide, accompanied by Deputy Speaker Bolanle Ajayi and other members of the assembly. The Speaker praised the Forum for its commitment to legislative development and regional integration.

The Forum of Majority Leaders brings together the Majority Leaders from the State Houses of Assembly of Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, and Oyo. Its primary aim is to enhance legislative collaboration, advocate for policy changes that support sustainable development, and promote good governance across the South‑West. As the Legislative Reform Implementation Committee for the region, the Forum plays a crucial role in driving reforms that reflect the aspirations of the people.

In his acceptance speech, Ibeman emphasized the need for greater synergy among South‑West legislatures to achieve impactful reforms. He assured that, under his leadership, the Forum will continue to develop policies that support people‑oriented governance, improve regional cooperation, and strengthen legislative institutions throughout the South‑West. Ibeman expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor, Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi, the Majority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly.

Ibeman’s election as Chairman underscores the importance of collaborative efforts among legislatures in the South‑West. With his guidance, the Forum is expected to maintain its vital role in promoting legislative development and regional integration, contributing positively to good governance, sustainable development, and people‑focused policies in the region.
