PDP lying about projects it never did - Wamakko

Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader in Sokoto State, has dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) claims about the execution of various projects in the state. Wamakko described the PDP’s assertions as false, misleading, and an attempt to take credit for initiatives they never implemented. According to his media aide, Malam Bashar Abubakar Sarkin Hausawa, the PDP has been circulating old videos and reports from more than eight years ago to discredit Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration and the APC leadership in Sokoto. Sarkin Hausawa called this a desperate effort to mislead the public and create a false impression of performance, urging residents to ignore the opposition’s tactics.

The APC spokesman highlighted the visible progress made under the APC government in infrastructure, education, health, and rural development. He specifically addressed the PDP’s claims about the Asari Water Scheme, which was launched during Wamakko’s administration to improve water supply in Sokoto and nearby communities. The project initially had 40 wells serving several areas, but it was abandoned during Governor Tambuwal’s tenure, leaving only one functional well when he left office. Wamakko’s government also worked on other water projects that reached 70 percent completion before the PDP administration failed to continue them.

Regarding housing estates, schools, and agricultural institutions, the APC refuted the PDP’s statements. The Kalambaina Housing Estate was completed by Wamakko’s government, while the Gidan Salenke project was left unfinished by the succeeding administration. Boarding schools in Shagari, Maruda, and Illela were built under Wamakko, and the current government is renovating and expanding the Sanyinna school to improve learning conditions.

The PDP’s statements are seen as a deliberate attempt to distort facts and undermine the real achievements of the APC government in Sokoto State. As the state continues to develop, it is essential to separate fact from fiction and recognize the progress made by the current administration. Ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, education, and healthcare are crucial to the well‑being of Sokoto’s residents, and accurate information is necessary to appreciate the impact of these initiatives.
