The Emir of Zazzau, Malam Ahmed Bamalli, conferred the title of Sardaunan Zazzau on former Vice‑President Namadi Sambo during a turbaning ceremony at the Emir’s Palace in Zaria on Saturday. Mr. Bamalli explained that the title was originally bestowed on Sambo in 2014 by his predecessor, the late Emir Shehu Idris, but the coronation ceremony had been postponed until now.
The conferment recognizes Sambo’s outstanding leadership qualities, his contributions to national development, and his commitment to humanitarian causes. The Emir expressed optimism that the new Sardauna will continue to promote peace, unity, and progress within the Emirate and beyond, and he hopes Sambo will serve as a bridge builder between the Zazzau Emirate and his extensive network of friends and relationships.
The event attracted numerous dignitaries, including former President Goodluck Jonathan, serving and former governors, traditional and religious leaders, senior government officials, and prominent political figures.
