Terrorism APC Chieftain Urges Ruthless Action Against Killers

'Enough of the Excuses' — APC chieftain urges ruthless onslaught against terrorists — Daily Nigerian

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on the country’s service chiefs to take a more robust approach in dealing with terrorists responsible for the killing of innocent citizens. The APC chieftain expressed concern over the rising incidence of killings by suspected bandits in several states, including Kwara, Borno, Zamfara, and Niger.

According to Oyintiloye, who is also a former member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, security agencies must adopt a more aggressive stance against those involved in the killings and their sponsors. He emphasized the need for the heads of security agencies to take decisive action to bring an end to the violence, which has left many Nigerians living in fear and anxiety.

Despite acknowledging the efforts of security agencies to address the situation, Oyintiloye urged the service chiefs not to relent in their pursuit of defeating terrorist groups. He also advised them to scrutinize their own ranks to identify any individuals who may be undermining their efforts to combat terrorism.

To effectively tackle the menace, Oyintiloye suggested that the service chiefs engage local security networks in intelligence gathering. He believes that involving stakeholders from different communities in the intelligence gathering process would help prevent terrorist activities and attacks.

Furthermore, Oyintiloye recommended that security agencies target the financial backbone of terrorist groups to complement their efforts. He commended President Bola Tinubu and the National Assembly for providing the necessary support and budgetary allocation to reduce violent crimes in the country.

With the cooperation of all stakeholders and the collective effort of Nigerians, Oyintiloye expressed optimism that the country would ultimately defeat the menace of insecurity. The APC chieftain’s remarks come as the country continues to grapple with the challenges of terrorism and banditry, which have resulted in the loss of countless lives and displaced many communities. The Nigerian government has been working to strengthen its security apparatus and collaborate with local and international partners to address the crisis.
