The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has acknowledged the ongoing political realignment in the Southeast region of Nigeria. According to the party’s spokesman, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the recent defections in the region indicate that the era of the Southeast being on the fringe of national power is coming to an end.
The APC believes that the realignment with the party demonstrates the Southeast’s desire to build bridges and break boundaries, underscoring a new dawn of inclusion, vision, and national cohesion. Oladejo stated that the region’s growing embrace of the APC represents a decisive step toward unity, progress, and shared prosperity.
For decades, the Southeast has been largely excluded from national power due to political sentiment and emotional posturing. However, with the new alignment with the APC, the region is positioning itself at the table where decisions are made, rather than being outside and merely complaining. This move is seen as a strategic recognition that meaningful participation in governance is the true path to regional and national advancement.
In contrast, the opposition parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP), are experiencing internal crises. The PDP is described as leaderless and rudderless, while the Labour Party has lost momentum and direction. The APC believes that these parties have lost touch with reality, and Nigerians can see through the chaos.
The APC remains optimistic about its chances in the 2027 elections, viewing it as a coronation of continuity rather than a contest. The party believes that it is consolidating a truly national movement, expanding its reach and relevance, while the opposition parties are imploding under the weight of their own contradictions.
As the Southeast and other regions strengthen their ties with the national leadership, the dream of a unified Nigeria, anchored on equity and inclusion, is being realized. The Lagos State APC has saluted the courage and foresight of political leaders from the Southeast who are choosing partnership over protest, development over division, and progress over propaganda. The party believes that together, they are building bridges, breaking boundaries, and securing Nigeria’s future.
