Nnamdi Kanu Release Protest Urged Across Nigeria

A pan-Igbo group, Ikenga Think-Tank, has called on all Nigerians to participate in a protest for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra. The protest, scheduled for October 20, is being led by activist Omoyele Sowore.

In a statement released by Dr. Dunkwu Agbambu, the group emphasized that Kanu’s fight is for all oppressed Nigerians, regardless of tribe or religion. The statement, ‘The Peoples Communique for Justice and Liberation,’ demands Kanu’s immediate release and urges various ethnic groups to support the protest.

According to the group, the current state of the nation, with issues like Fulani terrorism and government inaction, necessitates a unified response from all Nigerians. The statement draws attention to the perceived injustices in the country, including the manipulation of the courts and the oppression of indigenous peoples.

Ikenga Think-Tank argues that Nnamdi Kanu’s warnings about the spread of terror and the infiltration of institutions have come to pass, and his detention is a result of speaking truth to power. The group calls on all indigenous tribes, students, farmers, and patriots to join the protest, which aims to occupy major cities and demand Kanu’s release.

The protest, the group stresses, is not a challenge to the state but a call for justice. Ikenga Think-Tank appeals for a peaceful and unified exercise, emphasizing that freedom and justice are universal values that belong to all Nigerians. The group draws inspiration from the country’s ancestors, who fought for freedom and dignity, and urges all Nigerians to rise up and demand their rights.

The planned protest has sparked concerns about potential breakdowns in law and order. However, Ikenga Think-Tank remains committed to a peaceful but unrelenting movement, emphasizing the importance of unity and discipline in the face of oppression. The group’s demand is simple: the immediate and unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu.
