The Zamfara State Government has categorically denied rumors that Governor Dauda Lawal is contemplating a defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement released in Gusau, Mustapha Jafaru Kaura, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Broadcast Media, Press and Public Affairs, described the reports as false and misleading. He affirmed that there is no truth to the claims that Governor Lawal is considering abandoning the PDP, the party under which he was elected in the 2023 general elections.
Kaura emphasized that the governor’s loyalty to the PDP remains unwavering. The mandate given to Governor Lawal was secured through the PDP, and there is no reason for him to abandon the party that brought him to power. The PDP in Zamfara remains united and committed to its development goals, with the governor’s administration focused on improving governance, enhancing security, and fulfilling campaign promises made to the people of the state.
The senior aide urged the public to disregard the rumors, stressing that the governor’s commitment to the PDP and the people of Zamfara is steadfast. This denial comes as the state government continues to implement its development agenda, addressing security challenges and working to improve the lives of Zamfara’s residents.
