The African Democratic Party (ADC) in Kaduna State has dismissed reports of the suspension of its Chairman, Elder Patrick Ambut, describing the claims as “rumors” aimed at embarrassing the party. In a statement, Ambut explained that the purported suspension did not originate from the party and should be ignored. He assured that he remains the authentic chairman of the party in the state.
The controversy surrounds a letter circulating on social media, which claims Ambut’s suspension from the party. However, Ambut has described the letter as “laughable” and “not authentic,” stating that it lacks substance and clear reasons for his suspension. He believes the action is an attempt by the party’s enemies to destabilize it ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The State Secretary of the party, Oluwatuyi Victor Olayinka, has also reacted to the development, stating that the Deputy Chairman, Ahmed Tijjani Mustapha, and a few members are facing investigations for holding illegal meetings, falsifying documents, and unauthorized official communication. Olayinka alleged that their mission is to cripple the ADC in Kaduna and that they are agents of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state.
According to Olayinka, the deputy chairman lacks the constitutional authority to convene meetings or issue directives, and his actions are therefore unauthorized, null, and void. The party’s leadership has urged members and the public to disregard the purported suspension notice and continue with their legitimate party activities.
The ADC in Kaduna State has reiterated its commitment to peace, discipline, and the rule of law as enshrined in its constitution. The party has called on its members and the general public to remain calm and focused on its goals, despite attempts to destabilize it. With the 2027 general elections approaching, the ADC’s ability to maintain unity and stability will be crucial in its bid to succeed in the polls.
