The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has announced uniform sale prices for housing units under its Renewed Hope Estate Programme. The programme aims to make homeownership more accessible and equitable for Nigerians. The housing units, which include one-, two-, and three-bedroom semi-detached bungalows, are part of the Ministry’s efforts to promote affordability and transparency in the housing sector.
According to a statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Badamasi Haiba, the prices for the housing units are as follows: ₦8.5 million for a one-bedroom semi-detached bungalow, ₦11.5 million for a two-bedroom semi-detached bungalow, and ₦12.5 million for a three-bedroom semi-detached bungalow. The adoption of uniform selling prices is intended to ensure that Nigerians across all regions have equal opportunities to benefit from the Renewed Hope Housing Programme.
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, stated that priority in the allocation of the housing units will be given to low- and middle-income earners, civil servants, and employees in the organised private sector with verifiable sources of income. Nigerians in the Diaspora who wish to own homes in the country will also be considered. The Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, explained that several payment options have been provided to make the houses affordable and flexible, including outright payment, mortgage, rent-to-own scheme, and installment payment plans.
The sale of the completed housing units across the northern and southern regions will soon commence. Applications can be made through the Renewed Hope Housing online portal or obtained from the Ministry’s headquarters and field offices nationwide. The introduction of uniform sale prices and flexible payment options is expected to increase access to affordable housing for Nigerians. The Ministry’s efforts to promote transparency and fairness in the housing sector are likely to have a positive impact on the country’s housing market. With the announcement of the uniform sale prices, the Ministry is taking a significant step towards achieving its goal of making homeownership more accessible and equitable for Nigerians.
