The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to claims by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that the APC is attempting to silence the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections. The APC described the ADC’s statement as an attention-seeking outburst.
According to Mogaji Seye Oladejo, the APC’s state spokesman, the party led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is focused on reshaping Nigeria’s destiny and does not have time to bother with the ADC. Oladejo stated that the APC is busy building stronger structures, refining strategies, and consolidating internal unity, while the opposition is preoccupied with internal conflicts.
The APC dismissed the ADC’s claims, saying that Nigerians have already lost interest in the party. Oladejo noted that the ADC exists mainly on social media and newspaper pages, and its brand of politics lacks a base, followers, and relevance. He added that it is strange for a party to prepare excuses for its imminent defeat before the polls.
The APC emphasized that it remains committed to its mission of building a nation of opportunities, unity, and prosperity under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The party spokesman urged the ADC to stop hallucinating about persecution and start focusing on basic political arithmetic.
The exchange between the two parties highlights the ongoing political landscape in Nigeria, where the APC is seeking to maintain its dominance while the ADC and other opposition parties are trying to gain traction. The APC’s response to the ADC’s claims suggests that the party is confident in its position and is not concerned about the opposition’s allegations.
The developments come as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 elections, which are expected to be highly contested. The APC’s focus on building stronger structures and consolidating internal unity may indicate its strategy for the upcoming polls. Meanwhile, the ADC’s claims of being silenced by the APC may be seen as an attempt to garner sympathy and attention from voters.
