Usani Predicts ADC Victory in 2027 Elections

Crisis looms as ADC suspends vice chairman, former Nigerian minister Usani

Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru Usani, has expressed confidence in his new party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), to replicate the feat achieved by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015. In an interview, Usani stated that the ADC can defeat a sitting president in 2027, both at the Cross River level and nationally.

Usani recalled the 2015 general elections, where the APC, then a struggling opposition party, successfully unseated President Goodluck Jonathan. He noted that this outcome was initially considered impossible, but it ultimately occurred. The former minister believes that this same feat can be repeated in 2027, citing Nigeria’s political history as evidence that defeating an incumbent is possible.

Regarding recent media reports suggesting his suspension from the ADC, Usani dismissed the claims, stating that he remains the party’s National Vice Chairman for the South-South. He attributed the reports to paid attempts to justify a false narrative.

Usani also addressed the wave of defections from other parties to the APC, describing these moves as motivated by fear rather than conviction. He expressed confidence in the ADC’s coalition and its ability to move forward, unfazed by the defections.

The ADC and its allies are working to establish a credible alternative platform, which Usani believes will surprise many in the 2027 general elections. He noted that the political landscape is shifting in favor of Nigerians seeking change, and the ADC is well-positioned to capitalize on this trend.

As the 2027 elections approach, Usani’s comments highlight the ADC’s growing ambition and confidence in its ability to challenge the incumbent party. The outcome of the elections will depend on various factors, including the ADC’s campaign strategy and the Nigerian electorate’s response to its message. With the political landscape continuing to evolve, the ADC’s efforts to build a strong alternative platform will be closely watched in the coming months.
