Nigerian Troops Neutralize Terrorists, Recover Arms in Borno State

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully neutralized 10 terrorists and recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and equipment in a recent encounter along the Gamboru–Dikwa–Marte axis of Borno State. This development follows an earlier offensive operation around the Katarko axis, where over 50 insurgents were eliminated.

According to a statement by the Media Information Officer, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, the operation was a precision night maneuver conducted by troops of Sector 1 under 24 Task Force Brigade. The troops foiled a terrorist attempt to infiltrate Gamboru Ngala from the Flatari axis, and the fleeing insurgents were later engaged and neutralized along the Dikwa–Marte road.

The recovered items include five AK-47 rifles, one PKT machine gun, three dane guns, two fabricated pistols, five AK-47 magazines, linked ammunition, motorcycles, bicycles, and a radio set. The successful operation is a testament to the military’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in the North-East region.

The Military High Command has commended the troops for their gallantry and reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist groups. The ongoing efforts of the Nigerian military aim to curb the activities of insurgents and ensure the safety of civilians in the affected areas.

The recent encounters highlight the ongoing security challenges in Borno State, where terrorist groups have been active in recent years. The Nigerian military has been conducting operations to counter the insurgents and restore normalcy to the region. The recovery of arms and equipment is a significant blow to the terrorist groups, and the military’s efforts are expected to continue in the coming days.

The operation is part of the broader efforts to address the security situation in the North-East region, where the military has been working to degrade the capacity of terrorist groups and ensure the protection of civilians. The Nigerian government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the military’s operations and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
