INEC Extends PVC Collection in Anambra to November 2

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State to November 2. This move aims to provide more time for eligible voters to obtain their cards, a crucial step in participating in the electoral process.

According to Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, the decision to extend the collection period was made on October 27, following appeals from citizens and stakeholders. The initial deadline was set for October 29, but the commission has now given voters an additional four days to collect their PVCs.

The extension applies to all registered voters who have not yet collected their cards, including those who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state. Eta-Messi urged these individuals to take advantage of the extended period to collect their PVCs at designated centers in all 326 registration areas across Anambra State.

The collection of PVCs is a critical step in the electoral process, as it enables voters to participate in elections and have their voices heard. The extension of the collection period is expected to increase voter turnout and ensure that all eligible citizens can exercise their right to vote.

The electoral commission’s decision to extend the deadline is seen as a response to concerns raised by citizens and stakeholders about the initial timeframe, which was deemed insufficient for many voters to collect their cards. By providing more time, INEC aims to address these concerns and ensure that the electoral process is inclusive and accessible to all.

With the new deadline set for November 2, voters in Anambra State are advised to take immediate action to collect their PVCs. The electoral commission has assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to facilitate the collection process, and voters can visit designated centers in their respective wards to obtain their cards. As the electoral process continues to unfold, the collection of PVCs remains a vital step towards ensuring the participation of all eligible citizens in the democratic process.
