The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting sunshine and thunderstorms across the country from Wednesday to Friday. For Wednesday, the northern region will see sunny skies in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms possible later in the day over parts of Taraba and Adamawa. In the central region, sunny skies with cloud patches are expected, along with thunderstorms and light rain in parts of Benue and Kogi during the morning. Isolated thunderstorms with moderate rain are forecast for the afternoon and evening over parts of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasarawa, Benue and Kogi. The southern region will be cloudy in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms and light rain over parts of Cross River, Rivers and Akwa Ibom. Later in the day, thunderstorms with moderate rain are anticipated across Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Lagos, Ekiti, Ogun, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom.
On Thursday, the northern region remains sunny, with isolated thunderstorms and light rain possible over parts of Taraba in the morning. The central region will have sunny skies with cloud patches and thunderstorms with light rain over parts of Benue in the morning, followed by thunderstorms with moderate rain over Benue and Kogi in the afternoon or evening. The southern region will be cloudy in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms and moderate rain over parts of Rivers, Cross River, Bayelsa and Akwa Ibom. In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms with moderate rain are expected across Lagos, Imo, Enugu, Osun, Ondo, Edo, Ogun, Bayelsa, Delta, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom.
Friday’s outlook shows the northern region under sunny skies throughout the day. The central region will have sunny skies with cloud patches and isolated thunderstorms with light rain over Kogi and Benue later in the day. The southern region will be cloudy in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms and moderate rain over parts of Delta, Cross River and Akwa Ibom, and thunderstorms with moderate rain are expected across most of the region later in the day.
