Nigeria’s security in capable hands, says ex-CDS Christopher Musa — Daily Nigerian

Nigeria’s immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, retired General Christopher Musa, expressed confidence that the country’s security remains in capable hands. He made the statement during his pulling‑out parade, which marked the end of his 39‑year service to the nation. The ceremony, held in Abuja and attended by dignitaries, was a significant milestone in Musa’s career.

Musa thanked God, President Bola Tinubu, and the Nigerian people for the opportunity to serve. He described the occasion as both emotional and historic, emphasizing his dedication to Nigeria’s peace, unity, and stability. Throughout his tenure, he led the Armed Forces with distinction, earning the respect of his peers and the nation. He congratulated his successor and other Service Chiefs, pledged continued support, and urged members of the armed forces to maintain loyalty, professionalism, and commitment to the country’s unity.

The retired chief highlighted the importance of synergy among security agencies, noting that no single institution can win the fight against insecurity alone. He appreciated the collaboration of agencies such as the Nigerian Police, DSS, NIA, and DIA during his tenure. Musa also acknowledged the sacrifices of his family—particularly his wife and children—who endured long absences and uncertainty throughout his career.

As Musa formally retires from active service, he does so with pride and a clear conscience, having given his all to Nigeria. He reaffirmed his love for the country and his commitment to its constitution and sovereignty. His departure marks the end of an era, but his legacy and contributions to Nigeria’s security will be remembered. He praised the Nigerian people, especially the youth, for their faith and prayers for a safer nation, and recognized the media’s partnership in national development.

Looking ahead, Musa pledged to continue serving Nigeria in other capacities, offering thanks to God for divine protection throughout his career.
