A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has warned against the impersonation of party leaders. The warning was issued by Abdulrazak Abubakar, the factional chairman, during a press conference in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital. Abubakar said that certain individuals, including Sufiyanu Bala, have been presenting themselves as party executives despite being suspended.
According to Abubakar, Sufiyanu Bala and others were suspended by the party, and Alhaji Sule Iko was also suspended for claiming to be the party chairman. The factional chairman emphasized that neither Bala nor Iko is a member of the ADC, citing a court order that prohibits Bala from parading himself as a party leader. A High Court in Kebbi State has issued an interim injunction restraining three ADC officials from presenting themselves as members of the party’s state executive committee.
Abubakar stressed that his faction will continue to uphold the rule of law, ensuring that only legitimate officers manage the party’s affairs in Kebbi State. The warning comes as the ADC navigates internal conflicts and power struggles while trying to establish a strong presence in the state. The court order and the faction’s stance on legal compliance demonstrate the party’s commitment to resolving internal disputes through judicial means.
The situation highlights the importance of clear party leadership and legitimate representation. As the ADC moves forward, it is likely to keep addressing internal conflicts and work toward a unified leadership structure. The faction’s warning serves as a reminder of the party’s dedication to the rule of law and to ensuring that only authorized individuals represent the ADC in Kebbi State.
