Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the public education system. In a recent interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, monitored by Media Talk Africa, Soludo outlined the government’s efforts to revitalize the sector and emphasized the importance of a well‑structured education system.
The governor noted that his administration made a deliberate decision to rescue and revamp public schools, stressing that “there’s no education without teachers.” To address this, the state recruited 8,115 teachers through a competitive process that attracted applicants from 18 states across Nigeria. Soludo highlighted that quality education depends on competent teachers, regardless of their geographical origin, and that the state’s goal is to provide the best possible education for its children rather than relying solely on local teachers who may lack the necessary skills.
The recruitment of a large number of new teachers is a significant step toward enhancing the quality of public education in Anambra. With more qualified staff in place, the government aims to improve learning opportunities for students, which is expected to have a positive impact on the state’s education sector—a priority for the Soludo administration.
These efforts form part of a broader strategy to develop the state’s human capital. By investing in education, the government hopes to equip citizens with the skills and knowledge needed to compete in the global economy. As the education reform plans continue to be implemented, the quality of public education in Anambra is likely to improve, leading to better outcomes for students and the state as a whole.
