PDP Chieftain Defects to APC in Yobe State

A prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State, Alhaji Sani Adamu Yarin Fika, has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This development was announced by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to the Yobe State Governor, in a statement made available to the press.

According to the statement, Adamu declared his defection at a ceremony in Damaturu, citing Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to developing the state as the reason for his switch. Adamu assured that he would contribute to the success of the APC in the state, bringing his supporters from Zone B senatorial zone along with him. He confidently stated that the opposition, including the PDP, is no longer a viable force in Yobe State.

The Yobe State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Mohammed Gadaka, described Adamu’s defection as a significant gain for the party, promising to integrate him and his supporters into the party’s fold. Governor Buni welcomed Adamu, emphasizing that his membership and that of his supporters are valued equally to those of existing party members. The governor believes that Adamu’s defection will strengthen the APC’s position in Potiskum, Zone B, and the state as a whole.

This defection is seen as a strategic move that could impact the political landscape of Yobe State. The APC, led by Governor Buni, has been working to consolidate its hold on the state, and the addition of a high-profile figure like Adamu is expected to bolster its chances in future elections. As the political scene in Yobe State continues to evolve, this development is likely to have significant implications for the balance of power in the region.

With Adamu’s defection, the APC is poised to further solidify its dominance in Yobe State, potentially altering the dynamics of political competition in the area. The move is also expected to influence the political allegiances of other stakeholders in the state, as they reassess their positions in light of this new development. As the political landscape continues to shift, observers will be watching closely to see how these changes play out in the lead-up to future elections.
