APC Chieftain Claims ADC Absent in Anambra Election

South-East politicians pay gunmen, use them to win elections - Joe Igbokwe alleges

The Anambra State gubernatorial election is currently underway, with various political parties participating in the process. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is overseeing the election, which will determine the state’s governor for the next four years. Among the parties contesting the election are the All Progressives Congress (APC), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Labour Party, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to Joe Igbokwe, a chieftain of the APC, the ADC has a minimal presence in the ongoing election. Igbokwe claimed that the party is “nowhere to be found” in polling units and wards across the state. He made this statement on his Facebook page, suggesting that the ADC’s absence may lead to accusations of rigging. Igbokwe’s comment may be seen as a response to the party’s perceived lack of visibility during the election.

The ADC has been in the news recently due to its adoption by a coalition of opposition leaders who are reportedly planning to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s potential re-election bid in 2027. However, the party’s performance in the Anambra State election may raise questions about its viability as a major political force.

The election in Anambra State is being closely watched, as it is one of the first major electoral tests for the various political parties since the last general election. The outcome of the election will likely have significant implications for the political landscape in the state and potentially at the national level.

As the electoral process continues, it remains to be seen how the various parties will perform and whether the ADC’s apparent absence will have any impact on the outcome. The INEC has assured voters of a free and fair election, and the commission’s ability to deliver on this promise will be closely monitored by stakeholders and observers. The final results of the election are expected to be announced in the coming days, and they will likely have significant implications for the future of politics in Anambra State and beyond.
