Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, is poised to secure a landslide victory in Saturday’s election, having won all 19 local government areas announced so far by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The results, which cover a significant portion of the state, show Soludo leading with substantial margins in each of the declared areas.
The announced local government areas include Dunukofia, Njikoka, Ogbaru, Awka North, Awka South, Orumba North, Orumba South, Aguata, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Anaocha, Idemili North, Idemili South, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Oyi, Ayamelum, and Anambra East. With only two areas, Ihiala and Anambra West, left to be announced, Soludo’s victory appears imminent.
The INEC officials have taken a brief break and are expected to resume the announcement process by 6am. Once the results are finalized, Soludo will become the third governor from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to rule the state for two consecutive terms, following in the footsteps of Mr. Peter Obi and Chief Willie Obiano.
Anambra State has a total of 21 local government areas, and the election has been closely watched. The APGA’s potential victory would mark a significant milestone for the party, solidifying its stronghold in the state. As the results are finalized, attention will turn to Soludo’s plans for his second term and the implications for the state’s development and governance.
The electoral process has been observed by various stakeholders, and the outcome is expected to have far-reaching consequences for the state’s political landscape. With the remaining results pending, the people of Anambra State await the official confirmation of Soludo’s victory, which would pave the way for his continued leadership and policy implementation.
