Anambra Election: Soludo Leads as INEC Collates Results

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the collation of results for the Anambra State governorship election. The exercise is currently underway at the Commission’s headquarters in Awka, the state capital. As the results are being collated, the incumbent and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chukwuma Soludo, is leading the race.

According to the results announced so far, Soludo is maintaining a significant lead in various Local Government Areas (LGAs). In Awka North LGA, APGA garnered 15,895 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 3,661 votes. Similarly, in Njikoka LGA, APGA won 22,213 votes, with APC trailing behind with 5,687 votes.

In other LGAs, the trend is similar, with APGA maintaining a comfortable lead. In Aguata LGA, APGA secured 35,559 votes, while in Orumba South LGA, the party won 19,818 votes. The APC, on the other hand, has garnered significant votes in some LGAs, but is still trailing behind APGA.

The election has seen a relatively high turnout, with many accredited voters casting their ballots. In Anambra East LGA, for instance, 25,431 voters were accredited, while in Nnewi North LGA, 29,323 voters were accredited. The total valid votes cast in each LGA have been announced, with some LGAs recording more than 20,000 valid votes.

As the collation of results continues, the people of Anambra State await the final outcome of the election. The election has been largely peaceful, with minimal incidents reported. The international community and observers have been monitoring the election, and their verdict is expected soon.

The outcome of the election is significant, as it will determine the next governor of Anambra State. The state has been a stronghold of the APGA, but the APC and other parties have been making inroads in recent years. The election has also seen the participation of several other parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP).

As the final results are expected to be announced soon, the people of Anambra State are eagerly waiting to know their next governor. The election has been a test of the state’s democratic institutions, and its outcome will have significant implications for the future of the state.
