Yekeen Olaniyi, a media aide to Teslim Folarin, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, alleged on Friday that unknown thugs are planning to attack his boss in Ibadan, the state capital. In a telephone conversation with The, Olaniyi stated, “Some thugs suspected to be members of the Parks Management System in the state have been trailing my principal since last Monday.” He further explained that the chairman of the Parks Management System, Mukaila Lamidi, commonly known as Auxiliary, faces challenges due to Folarin’s good relationship with certain members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are loyal to him and willing to collaborate. These individuals have been providing information to Folarin regarding the alleged threats.

Olaniyi mentioned that one of their informants within the opposing camp had shared insights about their ongoing efforts. While he refrained from disclosing further details, he emphasized the urgency for relevant security agencies to take immediate action, stating, “This is not a time to begin going after a particular candidate when elections remain a few days away.” When asked about the security measures Folarin has implemented in response to the allegations, Olaniyi declined to provide specifics. However, he called on the Inspector General of Police, the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Intelligence Agency, and other pertinent security bodies to act accordingly.

Efforts to obtain a response from the Public Relations Officer of the Parks Management System, Jelili Emiola, were unsuccessful. However, a close aide of Auxiliary, who wished to remain anonymous, commented, “What concerns Auxiliary with him? Auxiliary is not after him. Auxiliary is only focused on the success of his party—the Peoples Democratic Party—in the upcoming governorship election.”
