Zamfara PDP Denies Plot to Attack Ex-Governor Matawalle

Nasarawa PDP leadership extends olive branch to Onawo group after Appeal Court victory

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied allegations that it plans to attack former Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle during his visit to the state. In a statement issued on Thursday, the party described the claims as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension.

According to the party’s Publicity Secretary, Halliru Andi, the PDP has no intention of attacking anyone. Under the leadership of Governor Dauda Lawal, the party has promoted peace and sanity, dismantling the political thuggery networks established by the previous All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

The PDP’s current focus is on the upcoming National Elective Convention, scheduled to take place in Ibadan on November 15 and 16, 2025. Delegates from Zamfara are already en route to the convention. The party has urged the APC to maintain peace and order while welcoming their leader, warning against any actions that could disrupt the peace.

The PDP has also cautioned its members to avoid provocation and obey the law, accusing the APC of mobilizing thugs to attack PDP supporters traveling to Ibadan. The party has called on security agencies to take note of this alleged plan and prevent any breakdown of law and order.

The peace and stability of Zamfara State remain the PDP’s top priority. The party’s statement emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order, particularly in the lead-up to the national convention. With the state having experienced a history of violence and destruction, the PDP is keen to prevent any recurrence of such incidents.

The APC has not responded to the allegations, but the situation is being closely monitored by security agencies and the public. The PDP’s denial of the allegations and its commitment to peace and stability are seen as positive steps towards maintaining calm in the state. As the national convention approaches, all eyes will be on Zamfara State to see how the situation unfolds.
