Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has submitted a list of 30 proposed commissioners to the State House of Assembly for review and approval, as required by Section 192(2) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended. The nominations were announced in a press release by the Secretary to the Niger State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Usman.
According to Governor Bago, the candidates were selected after thorough consultations and were chosen on the basis of their track records of integrity, competence, and dedication to the development of Niger State. He emphasized that the list reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusiveness, competence, and effective service delivery across all sectors. The nominees will undergo the necessary security processes and clearance before being sworn in.
The list includes representatives from various local government areas such as Agaie, Agwara, Bida, and Bosso, among others. Notable nominees include Muhammad Qasim Danjuma, Barrister Mohammed Bello Agwara, and Dr. Hadiza Asabe Mohammed. The governor congratulated the nominees and urged them to remain committed to the vision of transforming Niger State into a model of sustainable growth and responsible governance.
The nominations are viewed as a significant step toward consolidating the state’s development agenda, known as the “New Niger” agenda.
