The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Nasarawa State has urged the government to act immediately to curb the worsening security situation. In a statement, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Comrade Idris Ojoko, condemned the surge in violent crimes—especially in the southern region—as disturbing and unacceptable.

Communities in the Lafia, Obi, Keana, and Doma Local Government Areas have suffered repeated attacks, including kidnappings and brutal killings, over the past few months. Despite the severity of these incidents, the government’s response has been slow and ineffective, with no notable arrests or credible prosecutions to reassure citizens of its commitment to addressing the crisis.

The ADC reminded the state government that protecting lives and property is its primary constitutional duty and should not be taken lightly. The party expressed alarm that criminal activities continue unabated, leaving families grieving, communities terrified, and public confidence in the government’s ability to provide security eroding.

The ADC called on Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration to demonstrate stronger political will by reinforcing the state’s security architecture, adopting intelligence‑led operations, and restoring peace in affected communities. Such measures would enable farmers to return to their fields without fear and reassure potential investors that Nasarawa is safe for economic activities and development.

The party’s concerns come amid fresh attacks by unidentified gunmen in Keana and Doma, which have resulted in loss of lives. The ADC’s call to action is a response to the escalating security situation that requires urgent government attention. By taking decisive action, the government can reassure citizens of its commitment to their safety and well‑being, and work toward restoring peace and stability in Nasarawa State.

The government’s response to the ADC’s appeal will be closely watched, as the people of Nasarawa await concrete measures to address the security challenges facing their communities.
