Kachikwu joins Delborough Lagos board as new member

The Delborough Lagos has announced the appointment of Professor Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu to its board of directors. A renowned expert in the oil and gas industry, Professor Kachikwu previously served as President of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO). He also held the position of Executive Vice Chairman of ExxonMobil Africa and Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Professor Kachikwu, a native of Delta State, Nigeria, holds a First Class degree in Law from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and the Nigerian Law School. He also earned a Master’s and Doctorate degree in Law from Harvard Law School, where he graduated with distinctions. His impressive career spans various roles, including General Counsel of Texaco Upstream and Downstream in Nigeria.

The appointment was made during the company’s annual board meeting, which took place at The Delborough Lagos. His Royal Majesty Nnaemeka Alfred Ugochukwu Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha and Board Chairman, inaugurated Professor Kachikwu into the board. Also appointed as Board Secretary was Barrister Kelechi Nwaiwu, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The Obi of Onitsha welcomed the new members, noting that The Delborough Lagos is the only corporate body with a SAN as Board Secretary. Other esteemed board members include His Royal Majesty Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal, Usman Alkali Baba, and Dr. Valentine Ozigbo, among others.

The Delborough Lagos, recently recognized as the “Best New Luxury African Hospitality Brand” by the prestigious Seven Stars Award, continues to strengthen its leadership team with the appointment of Professor Kachikwu. With his wealth of experience in the oil and gas industry, he is expected to bring valuable insights and expertise to the company. The move reinforces the company’s commitment to excellence and its position as a leading player in the African hospitality industry.
