2027: PDP vows to reclaim Kaduna, slams APC's performance

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC), led by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, has arrived at the party’s headquarters in Abuja as rival factions prepare to hold separate meetings at the same location. Anyanwu, who was expelled as National Secretary, insists that he remains in the position until his tenure expires in December.

A heavy security presence has been deployed at the party’s National Secretariat, located at Wadata Plaza in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja. When asked about the security arrangements, Anyanwu said he had invited the operatives to maintain law and order, noting that the party routinely calls in personnel for meetings of this magnitude. The security personnel are also on standby to deal with any potential intruders, a remark seemingly directed at the rival faction led by Turaki, which has announced plans to hold a meeting at the same venue.

The development comes amid an ongoing leadership crisis within the PDP, with both factions vying for control of the party. Anyanwu’s expulsion as National Secretary has been a point of contention, and his faction refuses to recognize the decision. This has led to a standoff, with both sides digging in and refusing to back down.

Meetings scheduled for Tuesday are expected to further escalate the crisis as each faction attempts to assert its authority. The PDP’s national leadership has been embroiled in controversy in recent months, with internal power struggles and infighting threatening to destabilize the party. The security presence at the headquarters underscores the gravity of the situation, as both factions appear prepared for a showdown.

Control of the party’s headquarters has become a key prize in the crisis, making the national secretariat a focal point of the dispute. As the leadership turmoil deepens, the international community and Nigerian citizens alike will be watching closely to see how the situation is resolved and whether the PDP can emerge united ahead of future elections.
